FFA Becomes the Newest Club at LHS

By Gabriel Rodriguez

The 24-25 school year has a lot of new stuff to offer, one of those things is FFA. With the addition of Agriculture classes, Mr. Scott also got the opportunity to get FFA back in the school with a co-teacher helping. Miss Christmann is an alumnus of the FFA program and has more knowledge of what FFA is.

With FFA being a new addition to Liberal High School, students may not know what it is. Miss Christmann was willing to answer that question. “FFA stands for Future Farmers of America and is an Ag program for all students,” Miss Christmann said. “This organization gets students involved in the agriculture world and helps develop leadership, personal growth, and career skills.”

FFA helps students gain skills that are necessary for the real world. Students may wonder where they will use these skills. “ FFA helps students with skills that are a necessity in today's world.” Miss Christmann said. “Taking on a leadership role by working towards an officer position. Learning personal growth by getting better at the different competitions we have throughout the year. Learning about a big way of life starting from the very beginning with farmers and all agriculture provides in our society.”

FFA is not all about learning what Agriculture does in our communities. The state of Kansas also hosts a lot of events and Miss Christmann was kind enough to list some of them.  “FFA has various competitions from food judging, livestock judging, speeches, land judging, meat judging, horticulture, welding, creed, and more!” We also asked what the time to prepare for the events is like and Christmann said. “All these competitions take great preparation and help the students learn what each part combines to do for our lives.” If agriculture or FFA sounds like something you find interest in, contact Mr. Scott or Miss Christmann for more information.
